A comprehensive health publication · with a healthy-aging perspective

About

A comprehensive publication for the second half of life.

The Health Almanac is an independent consumer health publication — practical guidance, independent reporting, and a personalized Living Almanac for every reader.

Our mission

We believe every adult deserves a clear, humane picture of their own health — one that trusts them as a partner rather than talking down to them. Our reporting covers heart health, sleep, nutrition, movement and mobility, mind and emotional wellness, preventive care, healthy aging, and the Medicare system that most of our readers will navigate at some point. Where the evidence is strong, we say so. Where it's uncertain, we say that too.

What we publish

  • Daily journalism — primers, analysis, and reporting across our health pillars and Medicare beat.
  • The Living Almanac — a personalized monthly edition built for each reader from their own health snapshot, delivered by SMS.
  • Reviews and tools — carrier reviews, plan-finder tools, and side-by-side comparisons written by named contributors with disclosed methodology.

Editorial independence

No insurance carrier, Medicare Advantage plan, broker, agency, or field-marketing organization pays for coverage, reviews our drafts before publication, or has any influence over what we cover or how we cover it. We have no affiliation with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services or any federal or state agency. Read the full editorial standards and corrections policy.

How we make money

The Health Almanac is supported by advertising and by affiliate relationships with a small number of Medicare-related services. Those relationships never influence editorial coverage. Read the advertising and affiliate disclosure for the specifics.

Who's behind it

The Publication is written and produced by a team of named contributors — every article carries a byline linking to a public contributor profile with credentials and bibliography. We do not publish anonymously and we do not use generic "staff" bylines.
